Guys I need some help. I own an 08 ZX14 with a little over 10,000 miles now.
While out riding yesterday, I noticed that when changing gears my rpm gauge
would rapidly increase with little acceleration between gears. What could this issue be?

Does the engine sound like it is also rapidly increasing in rpm or is it just the tach?
If the motor is revving and your not accelerating much, that sounds like a slipping clutch. I recently had that and it was all due to a bad clutch lever. No harm to the bike.

Either your clutch is slipping or you're not letting off the throttle completely when you pull the lever to shift.

if your clutch is slipping, it will probably do it when you shift into the next gear but also under heavy load (higher rpm wide/fast throttle openings) without even touching the clutch lever. You may notice the slip more in the higher gears than the lower gears.
